Tuan
is a very small town east of Maryborough in Queensland.
It lies on the shores of the Great Sandy Strait, which
is the body of water separating the mainland from Fraser
Island.
Neil and Jane Hearn operate a brand new B & B in Tuan
called "Sealandings" which is designed to provide
quality accomodation to those wishing to explore the lower
middle part of the Great Sandy Straits.
Secure boat storage is available, along with wash down
facilities, and the boat ramp is just metres away. The
Great Sandy Strait is then accessed via a serpentine exit
which can test your navigational skills at low tide!
The
breakfasts are wonderful - especially if you have been
up half the night fishing; the afternoon teas ..... well
we were never there for afternoon tea, but we hear they
are good too!
There
are other things to do - Tuan is a great base for day
trips to Gympie, Rainbow Beach, Maryborough and Hervey
Bay itself. There's also a Tennis Court, Golf, and many
options for people into bird watching or bushwalking.
So
if you are a fisherman/woman looking for a place to escape
- no mobile phones (what a luxury these days!); the BEST
hosts; beautiful surrounds; and only 3-4 hours from Brisbane,
then this place is very hard to beat.
