Allan
is standing outside his tent in Port Moresby. The
tent was shared with 5 other men who stayed together
for the duration of their stay in Port Moseby which
was 6 months - from January to July 1942.

haversack with hand grenades and personal gear such
toothpaste, soap and toothbrush.

at 2am and could finish at 8pm. Work included unloading
ships at night, and setting mines in coastal areas.

& friends on top of a water truck. Water was brought
to the camp from the Lolokie River by pipe and the
water trucks were filled from a stand pipe about two
miles away.

and Les Borthwicke at Murray Barracks 3 moles out
of Port Moresby in 1943 when they were dropping supplies
from DC3s. They were flying every day and sometimes
dropping supplies under fire two or three times a
day. Days began at 4am and finished around 5pm.

on a fuel stove. Its good bread but was not frequent
- you'd only get it once or twice a week.
